Ah! If you haven't heard via my instagram, I'M LAUNCHING A MINI APPAREL LINE!! It includes leggings, skirts, tanks, crop tops, hats, plus other fun accessories and will officially launch August 1st.
I'm crazy excited, just in case you couldn't tell, so I wanted to share a little bit about the line and the inspiration for some of the designs, plus a look with one of my new crop tops which is available for pre-order starting today.
Bold. Vibrant. Sassy.
When designing the pieces and patterns for my line, I wanted everything to feel fun. My goal is to create pieces that make you smile when you wear them, can challenge you to be brave with fun patterns and colors, and help you spice up your current wardrobe to add interest.
I was inspired by chatting with a friend a little while back, and she just looked at me and said, "My style has gotten so predictable since I started work. I always find myself buying too many drab neutrals, and I wish I could be more adventurous." Her telling me was the exact inspiration to create some of the bright and bold pencil skirt designs. I wanted to create some fearless options for women who want to get out there and rock some crazy colors and fun patterns. The best part? Just add the neutral top you already own for a balanced workday look.
I also wanted to go all out with fun patterns, which is where the leggings come in. A range of colors and a pattern for everyone. The leggings come in long & capri, are made of smooth and comfy microfiber fabric that has 4-way stretch for working out...or you know...mostly lounging.
I'm not going to tell you everything about the line, because that would ruin the surprise. If you're getting excited, you can preview some of the line HERE.
The whole process for creating this line has seriously been amazing.
I have to give a quick shout out to all my blogger babes, both here in Denver and some sisters from Style Collective, that gave me so much support and encouragement to tell me this was possible. It seemed like such a crazy big goal at first, but now that it's happening, I couldn't be more appreciative of those who believed in me when it was just an idea.
Ok, sorry to get all sappy on you there, let's chat about this outfit.
Full disclosure, this whole look was designed to prove one of my best friends wrong. She said something to the effect of, "Crop tops shouldn't be worn after college." To which I begged to differ. Here's my stance on crop tops, just in case any one wants to know:
You shouldn't wear a crop top unless it makes you feel confident, beautiful, sexy as hell, and absolutely yourself.
Body. positivity. Can I get a quick hell yes if you agree?
Ah, you in the back. I hear you:"But of course YOU can pull off a crop top, you're in good shape." Here's the deal: Everyone, no matter their size or shape has body image struggles. And here's the other kicker: it may seem like a small issue to you, but it's a big deal to them.
Want to know what my "big-to-me" issue is? Stretch marks.
I've got a whole collection right across my stomach, and they're sticking around. (If you look real close you might see a few peeping out from under this crop top) I know, I should be ok with them and think they're beautiful since my body made a whole tiny human and everything. But guess what? I don't. I hate them. And it took me months to look in the mirror and accept that that was the new me. How does this little rant relate to this look? Easy. CROP TOPS ARENT JUST FOR PERFECT PEOPLE.
Shredded Black Denim + BUT FIRST...BRUNCH Crop Top
So all that raw honesty to say that I picked some high waisted denim to pair with this crop top. For me, it was to cover up those stretchies, but it's also the perfect way to rock a crop top in a more elegant way if you aren't a fan of letting it all out. You can find a similar, less expensive, pair HERE.
This black on white polka dot scarf, gives the look a little 50's vibe while dressing up the tee. I'm going to be giving one away in a giveaway collaboration that's happening soon! I'm also wearing my all-time favorite Stecy heels by Steve Madden and these cat eye sunnies that I'm in love with this season.
Every good black and white look needs some pops of color, so I added some pink via these fringe tassel drop earrings by Bauble bar, and this mini handbag in 'springtime pink.' Plus a swipe of this lipstick, which is appropriately named 'Obsession' and a light pink mani.
You can pre-order this crop top HERE and also shop this whole look via the VENNDY widget below.
